Nanotech ETF

PowerShares Lux Nanotech (ETF) is one of the few 'true' nanotech ETF, even if most companies aren't tied to just nanotechnology business, in the long term future some of these companies might be the ones to grab the emerging technology of the nano-scale.

PowerShares Lux Nanotech (ETF)

So here is the monthly update on PowerShares Lux Nanotech ETF(AMEX:PXN):

The performance isn't very bright, and while the stock market indexes didn't react very well to the Fed's decision, most of the few nanotechnology stocks aren't really performing that good either.

On the opposite direction, the solar industry seems to be doing just fine, beating all the other sectors and even the hot china funds. Some solar stocks have gone more than 50% just in the last month!

While I've talked about the future potential of solar technology applied with nanotechnology, the solarstocks performance seems to be happening today, contrary to the nanotech sector.

There are many interesting articles and analysis out there regarding solar energy, and I suggest you head over to SolarTechnologyStocks blog, being one of the few only dedicated to this area.

More updates as soon as new stuff comes out regarding nanotechnology and the markets.

Powershares Lux Nanotech Performance (PXN)

Powershares Lux Nanotech Portfolio (PXN) is one of the few tradable ETF that tracks nanotechnology companies.

This year's performance has been negative, but this last week the stock recovered and is close to breaking above the 200 day moving average.

If the price closes above $17.50 we might finally reenter the positive trend for the next few months. It's one of the ETFs to closely follow for these next weeks:

Nanometrics (NANO - Nasdaq)

Nanometrics touched new lows this year, but still reacting to the $7.93 support made in the last week of 2006, and probably finding key support at these prices.

Nanometrics widened its losses in the last two quarters, coming from a profitable 2005 year, into a loss in 2006. Maybe 2007 hold better days for NANO but its still a risk buying the stock at these levels, until we see a change in the trend, even if it starts looking to be undervalued.

Meanwhile, the PXN (Powershares Lux Nanotech) etf, is still negative for this year but today's move could represent the end of this recent sell-off. The next days should be important to prove this point:

Technically this etf is getting close to its annual trend line support, and I will update its long term chart later this week.
