Nanotech Articles

Markets are closed for the weekend, so it's time for some browsing and reading:

Responsible Nanotechnology is still one of the best and only blogs that keeps pumping out excellent articles, news and commentaries.
The latest entry: C-R-N Newsletter with plenty of related topics about nanotechnology.

There is also a must-read Nanotech Article titled "Nanofactories: Glimpsing the future of process technology" in the January 2006 issue of CleanRooms Magazine.
Read it here.

Nanometrics is doing some acquisitions:
Nanometrics Inc. (Nasdaq: NANO), a supplier of metrology equipment to the semiconductor industry, announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Accent Optical Technologies Inc.

Nanotech gains holding up

The Merril Lynch's Nanotech Index seems to be holding the recent gains, and even avoiding last week's correction, while the rest of the american indexes are still with modest gains since the start of the new year.

$NNZ is Up, beating in performance the major indexes and sectors. Maybe 2006 will be a kinder year for nanotechnology, and remember we've been having a Bear Market in this sector since 2004.

The only Nanotech ETF is on the top performers for this year and it's one of my first choices for capturing this sector's performance:

Stocks I'm watching now in this sector: NVAX, EMKR, NANO and VECO

Midterm analysis

The nanotech index ($NNZ) is up on new highs since the last 10 months.
There are some very interesting stocks, for a midterm long entry, in the nanotech group. A good uptrend seems to be forming, at least for the couple months.
I will leave you 4 charts for now and this weekend we will look into a couple more:

Applied Films Corp (AFCO - NASDAQ):

Cabot Corp. (CBT - NYSE):

EMCORE Corp. (EMRK - NASDAQ):

Nanometrics Inc. (NANO - NASDAQ):

2006 off to a great start

2006 started with a big bang in nanotech indexes and ETFs.

PowerShares Lux Nanotech's ETF is one of the top gainers in these first two weeks of '06.
Alternative and Clean Energy is on the move as well as nanotechnology in general(Check the $NNZ Index).

Lux nanotech's ETF should be one of the first choices if anyone wants a diversified Portfolio based around the emerging nanotech companies. Since the start of this ETF we've entered into a strong technical up trend and staying this way for the next weeks, even if we have a little correction in the next days.

The Schaeffers research seems to be tracking these new ETFs with a nice article that I recommend to any new nanotech investor/trader: Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) Focus

Next week I will look into some individual stocks... Happy trading!

January Bulls

The indexes finally started another bullish movement, after a quiet December, with the Nano Tech Index getting into new highs, above the last December top.

If we don't go back down again there might be some interesting nanotech stocks to look for.
Here is the Nanotech Index chart updated and if all goes well, in the next days I will analyze a couple of nanostock charts:

Year in Review

The markets started a new year today but they seem quite neutral.

We will probably need to wait one more week before seeing a new trend form up.

Meanwhile here are a couple of 'year review' links:
